UF Law Alumni Reception – Wednesday, October 11th, 2017

Edward Beshara and Sal Picataggio attended a reception organized by the University of Florida College of Law’s Law Alumni Council in Orlando on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Many UF Law Gators attended the alumni reception. It was a great opportunity to network with other attorneys.

Edward Beshara will continue to be an adjunct professor of Business Immigration Law and Practice at the University of Florida Levin College of Law for 2018.

Edward Beshara, Managing Partner, and the Beshara P.A. The Trump administration released a list of hard-line immigration principles for reforming our Nation’s immigration system.

President Trump and the White House released a detailed set of immigration principles on October 8, 2017.

The reforms cover three specific areas: boosting border security, strengthening interior enforcement, including a requirement that all employers use the E-Verify system to check the eligibility of all new hires, and reforming the existing green card system by ending chain migration and the visa lottery and replacing the current employment-based preference categories with a new merit-based points system.

USCIS Makes Additional Data on Employment-Based Visa Programs Available

On October 12, 2017, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has posted additional data about the agency’s employment-based visa programs on its website. This new information reflects USCIS’ commitment to transparency in carrying out President Trump’s Buy American and Hire American Executive Order.

New USCIS Form Streamlines Process to Obtain a Work Authorization Document and Social Security Number Simultaneously

Based on a new information-sharing partnership between U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Social Security Administration (SSA), foreign nationals in certain categories or classifications can now apply for work authorization and a social security number using a single form – the updated Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization.
